Ammoudara beach is located 5 km west of Heraklion. It is a long, sandy beach with soft golden sand and crystal-clear waters. The beach has been awarded with the EU Blue Flag for its clean waters and fine organization .You will find areas with sunbeds, umbrellas and a lifeguard, but there are also parts of the beach with no establishments. Cafes, restaurants and beach bars can be found along the beach and windsurfing school and rental is waiting you at the west end of the beach

Child-friendliness
Lovely soft sand and usually lots of room to play. On days with wind from the north, there are often waves, and then you should be extra careful with the small children.

Water sports
During the high season, there is a varied selection of water sports activities. Outside of the high season, there are no water sports activities.

Beach restaurants and Hotels
There are many good restaurants by the beach. A lot of hotels and rooms to rent are also found close to Amnissos beach.
